Scholastic Canada Biography: Meet David Suzuki

Boyhood fishing trips gave David Suzuki an early appreciation for the natural world — but his childhood was far from idyllic. His family lost everything when the Canadian government’s racist measures forced them into a Japanese internment camp. But David went on to become a scientist and professor. As host of The Nature of Things with David Suzuki, he was among the first to raise the alarm on how human behaviour endangers life on Earth.

And to this day, David continues in the fight to save our planet.

Elizabeth MacLeod and Frieda Wishinsky are the authors of more than 100 books of non-fiction and fiction for kids. They previously collaborated on A History of Just About Everything and they have won or been nominated for the Red Cedar Information Award, OLA Silver Birch Non-Fiction Award, Hackmatack Children’s Choice Award for Non-Fiction, and the Children’s Literature Roundtables of Canada Information Book Award. Frieda and Elizabeth both live in Toronto, Ontario.
