Description

During the Soviet occupation of Ukraine in World War II, members of Krystia's family were harassed, some arrested, and others killed. When the Nazis liberated the city, they were welcomed with open arms. Krystia's best friend, Dolik, was wary of the newcomers. His family was Jewish, and rumors circulated about the Nazis: they were said to be even more brutal than the Soviets.

Shortly after their arrival, the Nazis discovered a large grave of Soviet prisoners. They blamed the sacrifice on the Jews and created ghettos. Krystia couldn't bear to see her friends suffer. When rumors spread that all the Jews would be exterminated, Krystia had to decide if she was willing to risk her family's life to save her friends.
