Tali is living in Oma's apartment because a storm destroyed her house. She is heartbroken to have lost everything. "People have survived worse than this, Tali," her mother reminds her. Oma lived through World War II, but she never talks about it. That night, Oma tells Tali how she survived the Holocaust. She gives her the brass charm she received in the camps and shares a message of perseverance in the face of despair during dark times.
This beautiful picture book, inspired by the true story of author Monique Polak's mother, inspires us to find hope and kindness in adversity.
