These 2- to 4-page selections of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry texts were created by diverse authors, Indigenous authors, and students, ensuring students can see themselves in this student book.
The Teacher’s Guide includes 3-part lesson plans for each text in the student book to support teachers before, during, and after reading. It provides explicit instruction of the focus concept for each lesson and support to develop comprehension skills, develop vocabulary, and build background knowledge. It also has instructional support for fluency, sound-spelling patterns, word study, language conventions, and writing.
The Companion Website for teachers includes additional instructional tools, including projectable versions of each text, a second version of each text that highlights the unit focus, printable activities, word lists, mini-lessons, assessment tools, a comprehensive framework of texts, and additional resources.
