    Multicultural Tales Representative of the Diverse Cultures in Your Classroom

    Traditional stories from around the world paired with non-fiction information about the culture and/or region

    Flip Books for Grades 2�6 2 covers of the flip side Autour du monde�24 levelled flip-books�a beautifully illustrated traditional folk tale on one side, and information about the country, culture, or topic on the flip side.

    Student Books

    Non-fiction Side:

    • Includes a mix of different text-types such as reports, poetry, recipes, interviews, instructions, journals, jokes, and photo essays
    • Includes a map of the region where the story originates
    • Introduces non-fiction text features such as a table of contents, captions, illustrations, photographs, and a glossary
    • Has many connections to Science and Social Studies curriculum

    Fiction Side:

    • Allows students to make text-to-self, text-to-text, and text-to-world connections
    • Fosters an appreciation of different cultures from around the world, and some of the First Nations and Inuit peoples of Canada

    Teaching Support

    • Each flip-book has a corresponding 8-page teaching card with a guided reading lesson for the non-fiction content and suggestions for how to use the fiction text. The fiction text is levelled 1�2 levels lower, allowing the teacher options for how to best use the fiction text (mini-book clubs, independent or guided reading)

    Teaching cards are primarily written in English except for these sections in French:
    additional resources, topics for further inquiry, questions and tasks for students, blackline masters
