    Inquiry and Book Club Units
Inquiry Units follow a guided inquiry model to provide focus for collaboration and inquiry which helps increase students' achievement. Each unit offers an essential question to guide the thinking on inquiry. The Book Club Unit offers a sophisticated vehicle to engage readers in talk, forming opinions, and participating in higher-level thinking. The Book Club unit is similar to the Inquiry Units in that it opens with a framing question, and is introduced with a Read Aloud, and Shared Reading experience, but here students work in small groups with one of four texts on the same topic (below level, approaching level, on level, above level). A bag of question puzzle pieces is provided for before and after reading to promote deep discussion.
